About this vehicle

The revised 2026.5 Ford Ranger Sport is one of the most important additions to Ford South Africa’s updated Ranger line-up, slotting strategically between the XLT and Wildtrak derivatives. Designed for buyers wanting a more stylish and feature-rich lifestyle bakkie without stepping into full Wildtrak pricing territory, the new Sport combines bold design, enhanced performance and modern technology in a highly versatile package. A major update for the 2026.5 range is the introduction of Ford’s 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine to the Ranger for the first time in South Africa. Available on selected Ranger Sport derivatives, the engine produces an impressive 222 kW and 452 Nm, paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission for stronger on-road performance and smoother refinement compared to the previous diesel-focused setup. Buyers can also opt for the powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine delivering 184 kW and 600 Nm on 4x4 models, giving the Sport genuine towing and off-road capability. Compared to the previous Ranger line-up, the new Sport derivative effectively replaces the gap left between the XLT and Wildtrak models. It introduces a more aggressive appearance package with darkened exterior accents, unique alloy wheels, sports bar styling and a more athletic road presence aimed at lifestyle-oriented buyers. The revised Sport also benefits from broader updates across the Ranger range. This bakkie now features a timing chain instead of the previous wet timing belt design, improving long-term durability and maintenance confidence. Automatic models across the range now use Ford’s advanced 10-speed transmission, offering improved shift quality and efficiency. Inside, the Ranger Sport offers a modern and comfortable cabin with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, large touchscreen display, digital driver instrumentation, wireless smartphone connectivity and advanced driver assistance technologies. The Ranger Sport continues to appeal to South African buyers seeking a premium all-rounder capable of balancing family comfort, business practicality and weekend adventure, positioning it as a highly competitive lifestyle bakkie within the premium segment.
