As of 22 September 2026, the median asking price for a used Ford Ranger in South Africa is R 489 900, based on 7 334 live listings. Half of all Ford Rangers are priced between R 299 900 and R 699 900; entry-level examples start around R 209 990 and the top 10% ask R 899 900 or more.
The Ford Ranger is the bakkie South Africans actually buy used: more Rangers change hands second-hand each month than any other bakkie, including the Hilux. - Body style is the biggest price lever after age: double cab > SuperCab > single cab, typically by R80k-R200k like-for-like.
- 4x4 versions of the same trim hold value noticeably better than 4x2, and sell faster on delisting data.
- The 2.0 BiT 10-speed is the sweet spot for a daily driver; the 3.2 TDCi remains the fleet/tow favourite; the 3.0 V6 diesel commands a clear premium.
- Wildtrak and Raptor are the two trims where asking prices sit furthest above the model median, budget accordingly, but they also delist fastest.
- Compare any asking price to the year-cohort median below before negotiating, most listings are priced above where the market clears.
