The Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 in South Africa, explained

The Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 is the larger of the two GD-6 turbodiesels in the Hilux sold since 2016. Every 2.8 GD-6 Hilux for sale in South Africa is listed here, with live asking prices updated daily.

The Toyota Hilux has been South Africa's best-selling bakkie for decades, which is why its used market is the deepest in the country. The current era is the GD-6 (2016 onward; 2.4 and 2.8 GD-6 turbodiesels, including the Legend and GR-Sport editions), while the D-4D generation before it (2.5 and 3.0 D-4D, roughly 2005 to 2016) remains the workhorse favourite for farm and fleet use. Double cabs carry a clear premium over single and Xtra cabs; 4x4 versions hold value noticeably better than 4x2s. Live asking prices below are aggregated daily from listings nationwide.
